What is a Citizen Scientist?
Citizen Scientists play a vital role in coral conservation efforts, whether they are snorkelers or divers. They contribute to essential research by providing data on the health and survival of coral reefs, which is crucial for refining restoration methods.
How much do I need to know?
Participants don’t need extensive prior knowledge. Through the app, users will acquire the following skills:
- Recognizing the two primary coral species pertinent to our work.
- Identifying live versus dead coral.
- Distinguishing between fused and non-fused corals, with fused corals indicating a thriving ecosystem.
This app serves as a practical tool for getting started in coral conservation efforts.
